Alexander Isak has quickly established himself as one of the best strikers in the Premier League after his move to Newcastle United.

The Swedish international scored 25 goals in all competitions for Eddie Howe last season and emerged as a wanted man in the summer, although a transfer never materialised.

Arsenal wanted to sign Isak earlier this year but were put off by his £120m price tag, a fee that would have made him the most expensive player in Premier League history.

The 25-year-old is tied down at the club until 2028, but if reports are to be believed, Newcastle United are planning to offer him fresh terms amid fears that Arsenal could reignite their interest.

According to Give Me Sport, the Magpies want to keep Isak for the long haul and view him as one of the most important players at the club, due to which they are willing to offer him improved terms on his deal that doesn’t run out for the next four years.

Isak is believed to be ‘ready’ to sit down with the club and discuss his future, although his decision is likely to depend on how well Newcastle progress as a club in the coming months.

The report also states that Newcastle are fearful Arsenal or Chelsea could rekindle their interest in the Swede, due to which they want to tie him down to a new deal before the turn of the year.

Isak would be the final piece for Arsenal

Arsenal are one bonafide goalscorer away from having the perfect starting XI, at least on paper, so Isak would make perfect sense for Mikel Arteta and Co.

The Swede scored 21 Premier League goals last season – which is more than the combined tallies of Kai Havertz (13) and Gabriel Jesus (four).

Isak is likely to cost an absolute fortune if Newcastle reluctantly agree to sell him, but Arsenal shouldn’t refrain from splashing the cash on him if the opportunity arises as he could be the one to spearhead them to their first league title since 2004.
