Riccardo Calafiori has sent a message to his Arsenal teammate telling him “you deserve the best” after the latest from the Emirates.
Arsenal have struggled with the loss of Bukayo Saka to injury in December, and the gaps showed as they failed to beat 10-man Man United in the FA Cup, losing on penalties (12 January).
Brazilian striker, Jesus, has struggled to break into the Arsenal side with only five starts in the league for the Gunners, but he has featured 12 times off the bench for the North London team.
Playing in place of the injured Saka, Jesus was stretchered off the pitch on the 40th minute and it has now been confirmed that the former Man City man suffered an injury to his ACL. [Sky Sports]
Jesus now joins not only Saka, but also Ethan Nwaneri on the side-lines after the 17-year-old also suffered an injury.
The injury issues now put Arsenal in a position of needing to find a solution in the January transfer window, Football Insider previously revealed the club’s intent to sign a forward in the winter period.
Riccardo Calafiori struggles with injury issues of his own during difficult start to Arsenal career
After a brilliant season in his native Italy for Bologna, Arsenal made Calafiori their marquee signing of the Summer, but the former Roma man has struggled with injuries since signing.
Calafiori has only started in eight Premier League games for his new team and whilst he definitely has potential to become a starter with the North London side, he will have to find his fitness.
The Italian international took to Instagram to share a message to his teammate saying “You’ll be back stronger than ever…you deserve the best, Fratello” (Italian for “brother”).
With news of Jesus’ injury, Arsenal have now been linked with Aston Villa’s mercurial striker, Jhon Duran.
Alongside Duran, Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Newcastle star Alexander Isak as Mikel Arteta looks to find a solution to their striking woes.
In other news, Arteta may pay with his job after a transfer shock.
