Ridvan Yilmaz sent a social media message to his full-back counterpart as Rangers prepare to face Dundee in the Scottish Premiership.

While the defence has not been totally water-tight in recent weeks, Barry Ferguson’s interim reign at Rangers has gotten off to an incredible start, especially after beating Celtic in their own backyard.

But the victory at Celtic Park has not taken anything away from the fact that the Light Blues remain 13 points behind their Old Firm rivals in the Scottish Premiership title race, with all hope of a comeback gone.

However, with Ferguson’s side still competing in the Europa League, momentum could be incredibly important during the final few games of the season, especially if the Gers are to lift any silverware at Ibrox.

Oscar Cortes has hinted at a potential Rangers return ahead of facing Dundee on Saturday, 29 March, and Yilmaz will be fighting to keep his spot in the starting XI ahead of a tricky run of games.

Taking to his Instagram story [27 March], Yilmaz shared a training ground photo with Dujon Sterling, captioning the image: “My man,” with a love heart emoji, with spirits high at Auchenhowie.

The former Chelsea man reshared the post on his own social media, clearly feeling the love from the left-back.

Ferguson has made an incredible start to life at Rangers, with all focus now on the Gers reaching as far as possible in the Europa League, having bypassed Fenerbahce in the round of 16.

The Light Blues now face La Liga side Athletic Bilbao in the quarter-finals, with either Lyon or Man United awaiting them in the next round, though the manager will be taking one step at a time.

If this team can defy the odds and bring silverware back to Ibrox, even after Philippe Clement was sacked by Rangers just a few weeks ago, it will be an incredible achievement.

With Ferguson only interim manager until the end of the season, it would not hurt his chance of being chosen to stay on further, despite some of the big names being linked with the Ibrox job.

Steven Gerrard, Derek McInnes, Rafa Benitez and Russell Martin are names in the conversation, but supporters already look to have fallen in love with the former Gers midfielder at the helm.
