Manchester United are in the market for a new striker as they look to bolster Ruben Amorim’s squad and Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres are the two leading contenders.

Osimhen and Gyokeres are two of the biggest-name strikers in world football right now and look primed to make moves next summer.

Osimhen has been offered to United, although he is currently on loan at Galatasaray with the striker set to be sold by Napoli during the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, Gyokeres is another United target and his incredible form for Sporting Lisbon is set to earn him a move to a bigger club in the summer.

United have been targeting both forwards and it has been rated which one is more likely to make the switch to Old Trafford.

Manchester United are more likely to target Viktor Gyokeres over Victor Osimhen at this stage, according to Ben Jacobs.

Jacobs has revealed that the Swede is likely to be ‘more cost-effective’ as he won’t have quite the same wages and agent fees tied to him as Osimhen.

Ruben Amorim is expected to put forward the Lisbon striker’s name if asked about who should be the next striker signed by United.

In terms of a transfer fee, Gyokeres will cost around £62 million next summer.

Jacobs told The United Stand: “Right now if I had to pick one or the other in terms of which is more likely, [I would say] that Manchester United would enter the race for Gyokeres over Osimhen. Only because with the Gyokeres package, the agent fees and wages are significantly lower than Osimhen, so he is a little bit more cost-effective.”

How do Viktor Gyokeres’ stats compare to Victor Osimhen’s?

Gyokeres is still scoring goals at an incredible rate having bagged 32 in 30 matches in all competitions this season.

In the Champions League, the 26-year-old has scored five in six games, including three against Manchester City.

Osimhen is also enjoying an impressive campaign in front of goals-scoring 13 times in 17 appearances.

The Galatasaray striker scored twice against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League as he proved to be a real handful for the North London club.
