'Sensational' sacrifice could lead player 'home' to Aston Villa this month

Since Douglas Luiz left Aston Villa for Juventus last summer, his career has gone downhill.
The Brazilian has had fitness issues at the Italian side and has played less than 300 minutes in Serie A.
Doubts have emerged about his future at Juve and Corriere dello Sport have looked at his situation, revealing that the Bianconeri are seriously considering selling the 26-year-old.
Douglas Luiz has not found his position in Thiago Motta’s system at Juve and despite specified training programmes, things aren’t yet resolved.
He is now seen as someone whose sale can help Juve and the exit will be seen as a required ‘sacrifice’. Aston Villa are said to be on his trail and are interested in bringing him back ‘home’ this month.
There is also interest from both Manchester City and Manchester United, with the Citizens having had the midfielder on their books from 2017 to 2019.
The report doesn’t mention how much Aston Villa will have to pay to bring the midfielder back, but the signs are that if things don’t change quickly on the pitch for Douglas Luiz, a sale will be executed soon.
