Sevilla manager angry with Valentin Barco for red card – Brighton loanee blamed

Valentín Barco is yet to justify the hype or drama that preceded his move to Brighton and Hove Albion and a loan spell at Sevilla is not changing that yet.

And his latest episode won't help his cause either, with El Desmarque covering comments from Sevilla boss García Pimienta on how the youngster was to blame for a teammate's recent red card.

The newspaper explains that the Sevilla boss showed no hesitation in blaming the Brighton loanee for Marcao's red card against Real Valladolid at the weekend.

They explain that with Valladolid pressing in search of a last-minute equaliser, Barco gave up the ball under pressure, creating a situation that led Marcao, who was on a yellow, to commit a foul that would see him sent off.

Pimienta quickly reacted, making a double change and hauling off Barco, who was given an 'important talk' by the Sevilla boss. This was all captured on camera at the end of the game.

And it seems he wasn't keen to defend the Brighton man in public after the game either, although he did point out that the defender does have one excuse, the fact he's only 20-years-old.

“The second card is an action that Barco has to give to Ejuke, we make a one-on-one play and the problem is over," he said.

"We have to be more practical. The difference between Marcao and Colo is that one has a lot of experience and the other has 20 years.

"It (the foul) was necessary, because otherwise the player from Valladolid would only reach the goal."
