Liverpool are in FA Cup third-round action early on Saturday as they welcome League Two outfit Accrington Stanley to Anfield.

The Reds are still in the picture for all four trophies they can contest this season and will be eager to make a good start in the last one to get under way for them.

However, Liverpool lost their last match, a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final, and will be eager to get back to winning ways.

Liverpool team news v Accrington Stanley

Joe Gomez is the only confirmed absentee for Liverpool due to a hamstring injury he picked up at West Ham last month.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Jarell Quansah are expected to be available for selection for the 12:15pm kick-off at Anfield.

Szoboszlai has missed Liverpool’s last three games due to illness but has returned to training.

Quansah was an early withdrawal against Tottenham due to illness, but he’s expected to be fit for the Stanley game.

Trey Nyoni among 11 predicted changes for Liverpool

A combination of lower-league opposition and a big league game against Nottingham Forest on the horizon means Slot is likely to make wholesale changes to the Liverpool starting XI.

Indeed, there’s a good chance none of the players who started against Tottenham will be involved from the off against Stanley.

Goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher was overlooked against Spurs but there’s a good chance he’ll start on this occasion.

The entire back four could be replaced too, with Andrew Robertson, Wataru Endo, Quansah and Conor Bradley all coming in.

Although Curtis Jones could potentially start in midfield, we predict Slot will go with Tyler Morton and Trey Nyoni in the double pivot.

Jamie Carragher has described Nyoni as “pretty special” while fellow Liverpool icon John Barnes has deemed him “very impressive”.

Harvey Elliott is likely to be handed a rare start, while Federico Chiesa could certainly do with a goal to kickstart his Liverpool career.

Luis Diaz could line up on the left, and Darwin Nunez – who is suspended for Liverpool’s next league match – is likely to start against Stanley.
