Liverpool beat AC Milan 3-1 on Tuesday evening upon their Champions League return after a year out of the competition.

The Reds put in a solid performance against the Italian giants, and their victory was capped off by a goal by Dominik Szoboszlai.

The Hungarian scored his first goal of the season for Liverpool against Milan, and speaking on the Official Liverpool Podcast, Jay Spearing and Neil Mellor have been discussing the midfielder's potential this season.

Both pundits stated that they'd like to see Szoboszlai take more shots, with Mellor claiming that the Liverpool star can sometimes be too unselfish for his own good.

Dominik Szoboszlai needs to be more selfish

Spearing and Mellor spoke about the £60m man and his shooting ability.

"He can strike a ball. He has a wonderful strike, that's something that last season we didn't see enough of. He can strike a ball from outside the box. The last games in the league he wasn't shooting as much, but now he's getting pressure from the manager to get his numbers up," Spearing said.

"I think he's a player who can hit double figures. From midfield and higher up, he has the license to be a 10 sometimes. He can really get into positions to get those shots off. Sometimes he's a bit unselfish, when he should go for goal himself," Mellor said.

Dominik Szoboszlai needs to be more confident

It's interesting that Szoboszlai is now being told he should shoot more, because when he first arrived at Liverpool, he was letting rip from everywhere and anywhere.

In fact, Mohamed Salah remarked that Szoboszlai had the hardest shot of anyone he'd ever seen, bar Didier Drogba.

"Dom hits the ball unbelievable, maybe one, Drogba. Nobody knows how Drogba hit the ball, my god. I came to Chelsea and he came six months later and the way he hit the ball was insane. Dom is unbelievable," Salah said.

Szoboszlai does have the technique to score these wondergoals, and he needs to rediscover the confidence that used to allow him to pull the trigger more often because he can be a real goal threat when he's at his best.
