Arsenal are ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Kingsley Coman this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Coman is heading into the final two years of his Bayern Munich contract and could be allowed to leave the Bundesliga champions-elect this summer, having fallen out of favour under Vincent Kompany.
Sources told Football Insider in January that Arsenal were weighing up a surprise mid-season move for the French international, and Mikel Arteta’s side remain interested heading into the summer window.
Tottenham have also expressed interest in signing the 28-year-old, as have Saudi Pro League clubs, but sources have told Football Insider that Spurs are unlikely to beat their arch-rivals to his signature.
Arsenal the likely ‘landing spot’ for Kingsley Coman
Arsenal will be in the market for a wide attacker this summer, and sources have told Football Insider that Coman is much more likely to opt for a move to the Emirates than the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham may have reached the Europa League semi-finals by beating Eintracht Frankfurt in midweek, but cannot offer consistent Champions League football and currently sit 15th in the Premier League table.
Football Insider sources expect Coman to head for pastures new having started just 18 of his 37 Bayern matches this season, and Arsenal are well placed to sign him ahead of their North London rivals.
Coman joins long list of Arsenal transfer targets
Coman has played for some of the world’s biggest clubs including PSG, Juventus and Bayern, but he’s yet to make a move to the Premier League in his career despite previous interest from Liverpool.
Arsenal will have plenty to spend on strengthening their squad this summer via a £100million windfall after reaching the Champions League semi-finals; a luxury not afforded to either Bayern or Tottenham.
Football Insider revealed on 18 April that Arsenal target Anthony Gordon won’t be allowed to leave Newcastle unless “big money” is spent, and Coman could be a cut-price alternative well within the Gunners’ price range.
