Aston Villa have offered £18million for Borussia Dortmund forward Donyell Malen, sources have told Football Insider.
Villa are in talks to sign Malen, the Netherlands international, after Unai Emery identified a new winger as a priority for the January transfer window.
But an agreement is not yet in place, with Dortmund holding out for a bigger fee for the versatile attacker.
The Bundesliga club want £25-30million for Malen, 25, and have told Villa they must increase their bid to get a deal done.
He has made 20 appearances for Dortmund so far in the 2024-25 campaign, scoring five goals and notching one assist.
The former Arsenal youngster has started in just 10 of those 20 outings.

Malen has been a regular goalscorer during spells with Dortmund and Ajax, racking up 94 strikes in 247 senior appearances in Dutch and German football.
The 41-cap, nine goal Netherlands star has also been to two European Championships with his country.
Aston Villa are set to free up space in their squad for a new attacker with the sale of Jaden Philogene, who is widely reported to be poised to join Ipswich Town in a deal worth around £20million.
Unai Emery’s side sit eighth in the Premier League and are four points outside the top four after 20 games of the 2024-25 campaign.
Villa are also well placed to progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League this term and sit fifth in the league phase standings with two games left to play.
In other news, Villa “very interested” in re-signing midfielder.
