Michael Ihiekwe is keen to leave Sheffield Wednesday this month amid interest from Championship and League One clubs, sources have told Football Insider.
Ihiekwe, 32, has dropped down the pecking order at Hillsborough this season and wants to move on in search of regular first-team football.
Wednesday are open to letting the centre-back leave and there have been enquiries from clubs at the bottom of the Championship and at the top of League One.
The former Liverpool and Wolves defender has only made six appearances in all competitions this season with only four of them being in the league.
Ihiekwe hasn't featured in the Championship since September and has only made the match-day squad on four occasions since that point.
The defender has been under contract at Hillsborough since 2022 but is now ready for a new challenge.
Michael Ihiekwe is searching for regular football
The central defender boasts plenty of experience already in his career, having played 465 games.
The majority of those have taken place in League One, but he has featured in the Championship and League Two previously.
Wednesday are happy to let him depart the club if the right offer comes in, which could see him gain a new opportunity from January.
The Owls are currently 10th in the Championship as they attempt to push for promotion to the Premier League during the second half of the campaign.
Wednesday will be back in action on Saturday (11 January) in the FA Cup, which could provide Ihiekwe with the chance to feature if Danny Rohl chooses to rotate his squad.
