TBR Football understands that Juventus are turning their attention to Chelsea and Renato Veiga after missing out on former Blue, Fikayo Tomori.

Juventus want to sign two centre-backs this month and have identified Chelsea defender Veiga as their preferred option.

Since joining from Swiss side FC Basel in the summer, the 21-year-old has made 18 appearances under Enzo Maresca, with the majority of his minutes coming in the UEFA Conference League.

For Chelsea, Veiga has mostly played as a left-back, but the Portugal international is able to excel in several positions.

Now, former Chelsea man Tomori has indirectly pushed Juventus to pursue a move for Veiga.

Chelsea willing to sanction Renato Veiga loan deal in January

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Chelsea would be willing to sanction a loan this month, which could help a potential move to Italy.

Tomori, who was at the forefront of Juventus' thinking, has opted against leaving AC Milan because of the influence of new manager Sergio Conceicao.

Juventus were close to agreeing a deal for Tomori but the England international has now been persuaded to stay at the San Siro.

As mentioned, Juventus want to recruit two centre-backs and their focus is also on Newcastle United's Lloyd Kelly.

Kelly is keen to leave Newcastle only six months after reuniting with Eddie Howe at St James' Park, a pair who worked together at Bournemouth.

Juventus have also asked Chelsea about Axel Disasi but sources have told TBR that Veiga is their priority along with Kelly.

Borussia Dortmund have also been in talks for Veiga

Borussia Dortmund have been in talks for Veiga, but the defender could now get the chance to head to the Serie A for the rest of the season.

Whilst trying to land Veiga, Dortmund have also continued talks with Arsenal over Oleksandr Zinchenko, who is free to leave north London.

Veiga was praised whilst playing for Portugal by national team boss Roberto Martinez towards the end of last year.

And it is thought that the defender is very keen to be in Portugal's squad for the 2026 World Cup, alongside the likes of Joao Felix.

Veiga currently has three caps for his country, all of which have come since the defender moved to Stamford Bridge.
