Sunderland midfielder Jobe Bellingham is being watched by a number of clubs this month with Arsenal among those keen on taking the young brother of Real Madrid star, Jude.
Bellingham has been one of the Championship’s standout players this season and helped the Mackems to a big win over Sheffield United this week.
But as always with young players, Bellingham’s form has meant watching eyes from some of Europe’s biggest and best.
Indeed, as TBR exclusively revealed in December, Real Madrid and Dortmund are keen on Bellingham, such has been his performance level.
But with Bellingham catching the eye, clubs in England are keen as well, with BBC journalist Con Harrison suggesting Arsenal are among them.
However, according to TBR Football sources, Arsenal’s hopes of a January deal could be in vain.
Sunderland’s Jobe Bellingham intention clear as Arsenal consider their next move
TBR Football understands that while Arsenal are indeed one of many tracking the youngster, Sunderland have no intention of selling Jobe Bellingham in January.
This is down to them being keen to make a real push at promotion and they see Bellingham as being key in that push at the top of the Championship.
However, should Sunderland fail to win promotion, then there is a realism at the club over the future of Bellingham and fellow young star, Chris Rigg.
Indeed, TBR understands that should Sunderland fail to go up, then both Bellingham and Rigg will definitely move on in the summer window.
What Troy Deeney said about Jobe Bellingham with future clear
Simply having the surname Bellingham means eyes are going to be on you but it’s safe to say that young Jobe is carving his own path in football.
At 19, he is already about to tick over 100 professional games played at Championship level and just like his brother, the sky looks to be the limit.
Indeed, Troy Deeney has spoken highly of Bellingham in the past, suggesting he could eventually follow his brother to the top.
"There's a cluster of six or seven who are 22 or younger. Jobe Bellingham is the youngest he's just turned 17, he's six foot three, he's put on about 10 kilos this year and he's going to be an absolute monster like his brother is. He's going to be unbelievably talented but it will take him a year or two longer than it did for his brother," Deeney said.
A move to Arsenal, then, could well be the ideal move for Bellingham junior as he looks to take the next big step in his career.
