TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Manchester City are making progress in their quest to sign Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt this month.
It was confirmed by TBR Football that Eintracht Frankfurt told Marmoush he could leave this January as there was a verbal agreement between the player and the club. Frankfurt’s intention was to keep hold of Omar Marmoush and they were confident that no club would pay £50 million to secure his services.
All eyes are on Manchester City to see if they will meet the German club’s asking price for Marmoush, who Mohamed Salah recommended to Liverpool as a potential signing.
What Man City need to do to land Omar Marmoush signing now
TBR Football’s chief correspondentGraeme Bailey can confirm that City are in contact with Eintracht Frankfurt over a deal involving the Egyptian international.
TBR Football understands that Marmoush’s representatives are speaking to Manchester City.
The 25-year-old has informed Eintracht Frankfurt that his sights are set on leaving the Deutsche Bank Park this month.
However, TBR Football can reveal that Manchester City are yet to agree a deal to sign Marmoush, who Arsenal and Newcastle scouted.
Manchester City admire Marmoush as TBR Football have previously revealed that Pep Guardiola’s men have set their sights on bolstering their attack this January.
Man City insider thinks Omar Marmoush could be new Julian Alvarez
A Manchester City insider views Marmoush like Julian Alvarez due to how versatile he is, capable of playing as a striker, false nine and out wide, according to Fabrizio Romano.
“Someone in Manchester City believes he could be really similar to Julian Alvarez, so covering different positions.”
"Expensive player because Eintracht were hoping to keep the player in January, but now the player is really hoping to make this dream happen, work under Pep Guardiola, move to Premier League.”
Speaking to Egyptian outlet WinWin, Salah claimed that his countryman is “incredibly talented.”
Considering City decided not to replace Alvarez after his move to Atletico Madrid, if they manage to sign Marmoush, he could end up being a breath of fresh air for them.
