Tottenham are looking for yet more signings and are now leading the chase to sign one of Serie A’s most in-demand young players.
Spurs have made a nice habit of moving on the Italian market and have seen great success with the signings of Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur and Cristian Romero.
Links from Fabio Paratici’s time at the club remain very much alive and well and according to TBR Football sources, Spurs’ work in Italy is not done.
Tottenham ahead of Chelsea and others in race for Serie A defender
TBR Football understands that Tottenham are the leading Premier League club right now when it comes to interest in Lecce defender, Patrick Dorgu.
Dorgu is a wanted man across Europe but it is over in England where a number of clubs want to take the defender off Lecce’s hands.
TBR understands that while Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest are all keen on Dorgu, it is Tottenham who hold the advantage in terms of any potential deal.
Chelsea’s interest in Dorgu is thought to be serious but TBR understands that the performances of Marc Cucurella and Renato Veiga have negated the rush for the Blues to add another defender.
TBR can also confirm that West Ham are also among the clubs keeping a close eye on Dorgu’s situation.
CaughtOffside, meanwhile, report of interest in Dorgu from Napoli and Juventus.
Patrick Dorgu could cost Tottenham big money
There is no doubt that Patrick Dorgu is one of Italy’s best up and coming defenders and Tottenham’s interest is no surprise.
However, once again, a big fee might be needed.
After labelling Dorgu a ‘sensational’ talent, GOAL have claimed the defender will cost at least £30m for any club to take him off Lecce’s hands.
Still only 20, Dorgu has already won caps for Denmark and is very much on the path to stardom if he stays clear of injury and distraction.
