Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku faces an uncertain future this month amid interest from Bayern Munich.

Nkunku has had limited opportunities at Chelsea and, with the January transfer window now open, he now has the chance to leave Stamford Bridge.

TBR Football first reported back in November that Nkunku was concerned about his lack of game time at Chelsea and, with Bayern Munich circling, he may not stay with the Blues for much longer.

Sky Sports News journalist Kaveh Solhekol has now shared the latest regarding Nkunku, Chelsea and Bayern.

Bayern Munich ‘really want’ Christopher Nkunku as Chelsea opt not to bring him on v Bournemouth

Solhekol, speaking on Sky Sports News, said Bayern “really want” Nkunku, and Chelsea are prepared to sell him “for the right price” – more than £52million.

The journalist also noted how Nkunku didn’t come on against Bournemouth, leading to German sources speculating he was left out so as to not jeopardise his fitness.

“It’s a little bit quiet at the moment but my sense is it’s quiet because there are things going on in the background,” said Solhekol.

“Bayern Munich really want Christopher Nkunku. Chelsea are prepared to let him go for the right price. The right price is more than the £52million they paid for him in 2023.

“Interestingly, he was on the bench against Bournemouth but even though they needed a goal he didn’t come on.

“Speaking to people in Germany, they are saying to me: ‘Is that a sign, they didn’t want to jeopardise any potential move by him coming onto the pitch and perhaps getting injured.”

Exactly how much Chelsea want for Nkunku

Chelsea paid RB Leipzig £52million to sign Nkunku in the summer of 2023, but his time in West London has not exactly gone to plan.

The 27-year-old has played just under 1,700 minutes across the last 18 months, having spent most of the previous campaign out injured.

Matt Law recently reported that Chelsea value Nkunku at £65million, meaning Bayern would really have to loosen their purse strings to sign him.

Considering how keen the Bavarians are on the Frenchman, this transfer saga is certainly one to watch.

Spanish giants Atletico Madrid have also set their sights on Nkunku, sources have told TBR Football‘s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey.
