After a disappointing spell at Brighton & Hove Albion, Mahmoud Dahoud joined Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer in the summer of 2024.

During his time with the Seagulls, the midfielder had played only 14 times and a loan stint at Stuttgart didn’t yield too much benefit for him either

At Eintracht Frankfurt, the ex-Brighton man has played only nine times this season in the Bundesliga and is struggling once again.

BILD Frankfurt have looked at the 29-year-old’s situation, stating that while there were high hopes about his Bundesliga return, the German has only been a reserve for the Eagles.

In 2025, he has featured briefly and has played only twice. The club’s sporting director Timmo Hardung has spoken specifically about the midfielder and he said: “The competition in midfield is fierce.

"The guys there are doing well. That’s why it’s difficult for Mo to break in. But there can always be dropouts over the course of the season. This is his opportunity."

Due to an injury crisis in midfield, Eintracht Frankfurt can now bring Dahoud into the fold and this may prove to be a lease of life for him.

Having said that, everything points at how Brighton made the right decision to let the ex-Borussia Dortmund man leave.

While they did have to terminate his contract to supplement his exit, it is clear that Dahoud isn’t the force he once was during his earlier days in the Bundesliga.
