'Starting price €35-40m' – Chelsea lined up for massive profit after clubs got it wrong

Chelsea invested around €15m to buy Andrey Santos from Vasco da Gama in January 2023.
Last season, the Blues sent the 20-year-old on loan at Nottingham Forest where he failed to impress. This convinced Chelsea to cut short his loan stay in the winter 2024 market and let him join RC Strasbourg on loan in the same window.
The midfielder is currently with the Ligue 1 side and has impressed for them this season, managing 10 goals and three assists from 27 games.
Calciomercato.it state that prior to his sale to Chelsea, Santos was offered to big clubs in Italy for just €7m, and they all rejected him. His growth at Strasbourg has seen Inter Milan and AC Milan show interest.
This was initially reported in the UK and Calciomercato.it, after backing it up, add that AS Roma, Juventus and Napoli are also keen. In addition to the Serie A clubs, Atlético Madrid, Bayern Munich, AS Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain have the Chelsea man on their radar.
Despite interest from several clubs, the Blues’ intention is to include the 20-year-old in their plans next season.
Chelsea and the Brazil international’s entourage currently consider a transfer as ‘plan B’.
In the event of a sale, the report states his ‘starting price would be €35-40m’. In short, the English club will be in line to make a huge profit if Santos is sold in the next window, and the Italian clubs who rejected him are regretting their decision.
