Stefan Borson: Andoni Iraola to accept Tottenham offer

20/04/2025 07:37
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola could still join Tottenham this summer despite reports he’s open to extending his stay at the Vitality Stadium.
Spurs are expected to sack Ange Postecoglou even if they win the Europa League this season, having made it through to the semi-finals of the competition.
Football Insider revealed on 18 April Bournemouth have offered Iraola a new contract to prevent him from replacing Postecoglou in north London.
The 42-year-old, who is under contract at the Vitality Stadium until June 2026, is understood to be open to extending his stay on the south coast.
Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider he would be "staggered" if Iraola turned down the Tottenham job this summer.
Spurs currently sit 15th in the Premier League table following their disappointing campaign, while Bournemouth are in eighth spot as they look to secure European football for next season.
Tottenham to sack Ange Postecoglou
Borson insisted he expects Postecoglou to be sacked no matter what happens at Tottenham over the coming weeks.
He told Football Insider: "We will know quite soon as to what’s happening with Postecoglou.
"You would think that even if he won the Europa, you’d think that they’ll make a change anyway.
"I’d be really surprised if Iraola turned Spurs down if he was offered the job. I’m not saying he’s the main candidate. He may not be.
"He may have been told that he’s not the main candidate, in which case he’s allowed it to come out that he’s staying at Bournemouth.
"But I think I’d be staggered if Bournemouth’s manager, whoever it was, turned down the Spurs job.
"I think that’s just pretty unlikely, no matter how well Bournemouth have done.
"But it may be that Iraola is not the number-one target, even if Postecoglou gets removed, which clearly looks very likely."
