Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham could all afford to sign Dani Olmo on loan in January following his contract issues at Barcelona.

That is the view of former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider the La Liga giants would likely demand a loan fee of around £5million for the remainder of this season.

Olmo joined Barcelona from RB Leipzig in August last year for £51million despite their well-documented financial struggles.

The Catalan side have failed in their latest attempt to register the 26-year-old for the remainder of the season due to their difficulties in meeting La Liga's wage restrictions after he was only permitted to play in the opening half of the campaign.

The Spain international’s agent Andy Bara was at the Man City game against Everton on Boxing Day, but he later claimed he was just on holiday in Manchester and his client is not planning to leave Barcelona.

Borson told Football Insiderhe suspects Man City and Man United are both likely to be in talks with Olmo's agent about a potential loan move.

Arsenal and Tottenham could afford Dani Olmo loan fee

He believes Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham could also join the race to sign the attacking midfielder if he were to become available this month.

"I suspect it won't end up with him walking out the door," Borson told Football Insider.

"I think a loan move is possible. Although somebody did mention that there could be issues getting approval for a loan move given that he's not registered in La Liga, so you kind of have this almost total block.

"But it seems to me that they would be able to find some kind of pragmatic solution to it because, otherwise, it's a restraint of trade and he literally won't be able to play football for at least six months.

"It does look increasingly unlikely that Barcelona are going to get through this problem. They have talked about various approaches to it, but it does look like they will fail to get him registered.

"That will leave the door open for probably a number of clubs. I don't think it's just the Manchester clubs. There are probably 10 clubs around Europe that would take him on loan.

"It would probably work for Barcelona if they can't get him registered if somebody is prepared to take his wages and pay the loan fee of maybe £5million. I think that's a deal that could happen.

"You would think Spurs, maybe Arsenal if he could fit in there, and even the likes of West Ham.

"Almost any of the major clubs around Europe that can afford that wage would think about taking him."
