Stefan Borson: Chelsea 'have something up their sleeve' to avoid points deduction blow

Chelsea likely have "something up their sleeve" to ensure they pass the profit and sustainability (PSR) test for 2023-24.
That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider he expects Everton, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa to also avoid a spending breach following their last-ditch deals before the 30 June accounting deadline.
All four top-flight clubs have faced PSR issues in recent times, with Everton and Forest both handed points deductions last season.
Chelsea's latest published accounts for 2022-23 revealed they sold two Stamford Bridge hotels to a sister company for a total of £76.5million to help them avoid a PSR breach.
That meant their losses fell from potentially as high as £166.4million to £89.9million for the 2022-23 financial year alone.
The London giants also transferred ownership of their women's team to a BlueCo company in June last year to seemingly offset their losses for 2023-24.
Chelsea have made intra-group sales to avoid PSR breach
Borson suggested Chelsea's intra-group sales are likely to have seen them avoid a spending breach after all the Premier League clubs were required to submit their accounts for last season in December.
"I think Leicester are the club most at risk," Borson told Football Insider.
"You have to assume Chelsea have got something up their sleeve in terms of intra-group sales, which will get them through.
"You have to assume that Everton, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa, who did all those transactions just before 30 June, were all fine because they were doing those deals specifically to be fine.
"Leicester are the club that are most at risk."
