Stefan Borson drops Everton spending power claim as new arrivals head in

Everton owners The Friedkin Group (TFG) is continuing to make several changes behind the scenes as the club prepares to move away from Goodison Park this summer.
David Moyes has guided Everton to Premier League safety since returning as manager earlier this year, while Angus Kinnear will join as CEO from Leeds United at the end of this season.
Nick Hammond is also set to make the move from Elland Road, where he's been working in the recruitment department.
Everton have now confirmed Christopher Sarofim and Jason Kidd have joined their ownership group, Roundhouse Capital Holdings.
However, finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider he doesn't believe the new arrivals will improve the club's spending power.
Sarofim is a minority owner of the NFL franchise Houston Texans and his family company, Fayez Sarofim & Co, manages assets worth around £23billion.
Meanwhile, Kidd is currently the head coach of NBA team Dallas Mavericks.
Everton could agree off-field deals
Borson suggested Sarofim and Kidd could tap into their networks to help Everton land better commercial deals.
He told Football Insider: "It won’t make much difference because I think they were already well capitalised in Roundhouse, so whether it’s the money coming from X or Y is probably neither here nor there.
"It’s probably more for the Friedkin's in terms of just spreading their risk more than it giving the club additional firepower.
"I think part of it is about networking with some of these owners. They end up being family office club deals, where they all chip in and they all leverage their network and open doors. I think that would be part of the game plan.
"But we know that most of the commercial deals are not going to come from the US for Everton.
"They are going to come from the same place they’ve always come from in the English game, which is large brands, international brands and, unfortunately, betting.
"I say unfortunately because we know there’s going to be changes to the betting situation, which is going to leave a big hole with a lot of these clubs."
Everton lead race to sign Chris Rigg
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider Everton want to sign Sunderland star Chris Rigg and are currently leading the race for his signature.
Man United, Tottenham, Chelsea, West Ham and Crystal Palace have all had scouts tracking the 17-year-old’s progress as they consider making a move to sign him.
Appearances | 43 |
Goals | 4 |
Assists | 1 |
Rigg has registered four goals and one assist in 43 appearances this season as he looks to help Sunderland earn promotion to the Premier League.
