Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk is facing a "very serious" situation after it has been revealed he's failed a drugs test.
That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider it's going to be a "massive headache" for the Ukraine international.
Mudryk has been provisionally suspended by the FA following an "adverse finding" in a urine test.
The 23-year-old said in a statement it is a "complete shock" and he has "not done anything wrong".
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba was handed a four-year doping ban earlier this year before his suspension was later reduced to 18 months on appeal.
Chelsea have decision to make over Mykhailo Mudryk’s future
Borson admitted Chelsea will have to decide whether to stick by Mudryk and support him or terminate his contract if the allegations are proven.
He told Football Insider: "We know from the Pogba situation it can start at four years and end at 18 months on appeal.
"I think other ones have been two years.
"This could be very serious for the player, so it's a massive headache for him.
"He is young enough to come back from it. But if it's proven, these sorts of bans are not short.
"Assuming that it's all proven, there is going to be an issue that Chelsea are going to have to decide what they are going to do with the player.
"Are they going to effectively terminate his contract or are they going to somehow maintain him and support him over a very long period."
