Sunderland star Jobe Bellingham reacted to a message from Burnley defender CJ Egan-Riley as he continues to be linked with a Premier League move.
The 19-year-old played 70 minutes in England U21’s 4-2 win over Portugal U21 on Monday (24 March), setting up Arsenal star Ethan Nwaneri in the 10th minute.
Bellingham was eventually replaced by former Newcastle midfielder Elliott Anderson, having ran the show for his side.
The ex-Birmingham City midfielder has been attracting interest from Chelsea recently, thanks to his wonderful performances for the promotion-chasing Black Cats.
Jobe Bellingham reacts to ‘good to be back’ message from CJ Egan-Riley
Following the win, Burnley defender Egan-Riley posted a series of photos to Instagram, captioned: “Enjoyable week with the boys… Good to be back in the shirt”.
The message was then liked by international teammate, Bellingham, although the pair will now have to re-focus, as their respective clubs chase promotion to the Premier League.
Burnley are just two points behind the top two in the Championship, Leeds and Sheffield United, with just eight games remaining.
Sunderland meanwhile have dropped off from the chase for automatic promotion and seem set to battle it out in the play-offs for a return to the Premier League.
Sunderland prepare for ‘huge’ Jobe Bellingham offer this summer
Football Insider Verdict
Sunderland plan to accept a “huge” offer for Bellingham this summer, sources have revealed to Football Insider.
The England U21 international will seemingly have his pick of teams in the coming transfer window, with Chelsea, Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Arsenal all having shown interest in the midfielder.
Bellingham would be an attractive proposition for any of those teams, having garnered more first-team minutes than most of his peers of a similar age.

This has largely been down to smart career choices. Rather than jumping at the first opportunity of a big move, the younger brother of Real Madrid star, Jude, chose to move from Birmingham to Sunderland, gaining experience in the Championship.
The physical nature of the league and it’s unforgiving schedule will make Bellingham ready to feature straight away for whichever side he signs with, whilst also netting Sunderland a tidy transfer fee.
