'Swansea boss Luke Williams apologises over West Brom manager job'

Luke Williams has apologised for his comments about West Brom links and his rumoured Swansea City exit.
The Swans boss made a comment after the damning 4-0 loss Portsmouth, saying "I’m not sure they want my future to be here" [talkSPORT].
This caused many to assume he would be considering the Baggies role as the club are still looking to replace Carlos Corberan.
Williams was the "odds-on bookies favourite' but he has now played down any rumours and apologised for his comments.
He said: "I'm sorry if I didn't take it seriously enough, but I thought it was quite funny. I'm glad it's over and I want to make Swansea as good as they can possibly be” [via Wales Online].
Swansea are keeping Luke Williams as West Brom look elsewhere
It seems as if the hierarchy at The Hawthorns are taking their time to decide who will replace Corberan as head coach.
Coincidentally, West Brom and Swansea are set to face each other in the next Championship matchday. If there is potential interest in Williams, it could present an opportunity to evaluate how he performs under pressure.
However, according to Football Insider, Liverpool first-team coach John Heitinga has emerged as a leading contender for the role. His experience is proving "attractive" to the club's decision-makers.
Some fans may take comfort in the club's hierarchy biding their time to make the right appointment, especially given West Brom's ambition to fight for promotion to the Premier League this season.
However, appointing Williams could be seen as a gamble. The 43-year-old has yet to leave a significant mark since joining the Welsh club around this time last year.
While he successfully guided Notts County back into the Football League last season, making the leap to manage a promotion-chasing Championship side could be risky for both him and the club.
Currently, Swansea sit 12th in the league table, while West Brom occupy 6th place, holding onto a play-off spot only by virtue of goal difference.
