West Ham United’s injury curse with forwards appears to have have now extended to players they’re just trying to sign as well as ones they already have in Graham Potter’s squad.

The Hammers have had to move into the market to try and bring in a striker and their latest target has been PSV Eindhoven’s Ricardo Pepi.

Earlier on Thursday we covered claims from the Netherlands which stated West Ham had made an initial approach to PSV and wanted to pay the Eredivisie club around €25m for their player.

That was dismissed by the Dutch media as a hopeless bid, and Eindhovens Dagblad, the local newspaper, reported West Ham were expected to return with €35m… which was also considered too little for a January move.

Now the same Eindhovens Dagblad report the transfer is 100% offer, regardless of what West Ham offer. That’s because Pepi has picked up what they describe as a serious knee injury and will be out for most of the rest of this season.
