In terms of the best Premier League signings in the last few seasons, it’s hard to argue against Newcastle’s capture of Alexander Isak as being up there.
Isak has been nothing short of brilliant since his move to the club from Real Sociedad and despite costing over £60m, his goals have spoken for themselves.
Isak bagged 21 times in the Premier League last season and is on course to break that this season having scored his 13th of the campaign at Tottenham yesterday.

With Arsenal among those keen on Isak, the Toon Army will be hoping he sticks around for some time yet.
However, in the short-term, Isak has a major milestone he can reach at Newcastle which would see him surpass club legend and all-time leading goal scorer, Alan Shearer.
Alexander Isak needs just one goal to surpass Alan Shearer
Isak bagged his 13th of the Premier League season at Tottenham with the winning goal and he appears to be going from strength to strength. So much so, he’s on the verge of overtaking the great Alan Shearer.
In a statistic shared by Sky Sports, Isak has now brought himself level with Newcastle legend Shearer as he continues his fine form.
“Alexander Isak has now scored in seven consecutive Premier League matches for Newcastle United, becoming the third player to do so for the Magpies after Alan Shearer (September-November 1996) and Joe Willock (April-May 2021).”
With Newcastle’s next home game coming against lowly Wolves, there is every chance Isak does the business.
Longest Premier League scoring streaks in history
While Alexander Isak might be on the verge of being the main man at Newcastle, he still has a few games to go before being the Premier League’s top dog.
That title currently sits with Jamie Vardy, who went 11 Premier League games running finding the back of the net in 2015.
Current Leicester manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has also done it twice, scoring in ten games and eight games successively on two different occasions.
Longest Premier League goal scoring streaks | Player |
11 | Jamie Vardy |
10 | Ruud van Nistelrooy |
8 | Ruud van Nistelrooy |
8 | Daniel Sturridge |
8 | Jamie Vardy |
7 | Mark Stein |
Isak, then, will have his eyes on the prize and putting himself out alone on this list.
