It's been a year of firsts at Liverpool this season.

It's Arne Slot's first season at the club, it's the Reds' first time playing in the new Champions League format and it's the first season for Richard Hughes as Sporting Director.

Mohamed Salah has been at Liverpool for a long time now, and while it may be a season of firsts at Liverpool, it may be a season of lasts for Salah.

Indeed, Salah is into the final six months of his contract at Liverpool, and he could be playing his last season at the club looking to win his last trophies as a red.

That said, Salah's contract talks are going well, so that is promising.

However, despite being in potentially his final season, Salah is now doing something for the first time at Anfield.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Salah has claimed that for the first time ever, he's prioritising the Premier League ahead of the Champions League.

Mohamed Salah prioritising the Premier League

Salah says that the one thing at the top of his list of goals right now is to win the Premier League.

The winger says that he usually prioritises the Champions League, but, this season, for some reason, he wants to win the domestic title.

"The first thing on my list was to win the Premier League with Liverpool. If you look at my interviews over the last seven or eight years I always say the Champions League, but this is the first time I would say like I really want to win the Premier League with Liverpool," Salah said.

"So why has the Premier League gone above the Champions League now then?" Salah was asked.

"No idea, probably because we didn't celebrate the one we won with the club in the way we wanted to. This is my last year in the club, so you want to do something special for the city," Salah said.

What else did Mohamed Salah say about his contract?

Of course, Salah saying that he's prioritising the Premier League is interesting, but the real juicy bit of news within those quotes is Salah saying that this is his last year at the club.

Luckily, Salah did follow up those comments, stating that he's not concrete about the idea of leaving, but, as of yet, he's not close to signing a new deal.

"You said in that first answer that this is my last season at the club. Do you really believe that when you said that?" Salah was asked.

"Yeah, so far this is the last six months. There is nothing, no progress there, like we're far away from any progress so we just need to wait and see," Salah said.

Salah is expected to stay at Liverpool by some journalists, and, the fact that he's being so open about his future would suggest that he does want a contract offer to land.

Whether or not Liverpool do end up making Salah an offer that is acceptable remains to be seen, but with the Egyptian in such incredible form right now, the Reds would be silly to let their star man depart on a free transfer.
