Manchester United dropped even more points in the Premier League after a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa, with Marcus Rashford’s performance a talking point.

The England international escaped being sent off after VAR failed to alert the referee on a deliberate foul Rashford made on Leon Bailey in a dangerous area for Villa just minutes after being shown a yellow card.

With Rashford coming off mere moments later, Erik Ten Hag and the Red Devil forward himself seemed to have acknowledged that the United no. 10 got away with one big time at Villa Park, where the winger being sent off could have swung the game in Villa’s favour.

And Premier League legend Les Ferdinand has now shared what he noticed about Rashford’s body language against Villa.

Rashford ‘a shadow of his former self’ after poor United run

Speaking on Sky Sports, the former Tottenham attacker noted how Rashford looks unhappy in moments for United, with the 26-year-old attacker yet to really get going for the Manchester giants in what has been another rough start to the season for Ten Hag.

Ferdinand said when asked about Rashford and what is going wrong for the winger: "He just looks like an unhappy player at the moments. He’s been like this for over a year. He’s like a shadow of his former self. There is a problem going on there.”

Indeed, Rashford has been in a slump for what feels like some time, with the winger losing his spot in the England national team and looking no closer to regaining the fire that made the United star one of the best attackers in the world.

And after what happened at Villa Park this afternoon, there could be a breaking point for Rashford at United that could all culminate in the forward leaving his boyhood club, a decision that could help the 26-year-old regain his spark.

Rashford could have to make a hard decision in 2025

There’s no denying that Rashford loves United, with the Red Devils the attacker’s boyhood club where after coming through the academy he is now one of the star names of the Premier League even with his form as bad as it has been.

And heading into 2025, Rashford could have to make a hard decision if he is to get his career back on track which could involve leaving United for good, something that might be a blessing in disguise given the state of the Old Trafford side.

As long as Ten Hag is at the helm, Rashford’s United career might not hit the former heights it once did, and leaving Manchester for another club in the Premier League or abroad could be what’s needed to get his career back on track at long last.
