Jacob Ramsey has dropped an update on social media as the Aston Villa squad continue to work during the international break, with reactions from Everton and Fulham.

The 23-year-old’s season has burst back to life in recent weeks, notching two goals and three assists in his last eight starts for Unai Emery‘s side, but he is often sacrificed by the manager.

With Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford both impressing at Villa, it is incredibly difficult for the younger winger to keep his spot in the starting XI, but he still has time to prove himself.

The Villans are currently over in Saudi Arabia, preparing themselves for a friendly fixture against Al Ain, with a top-four Premier League finish, Champions League glory and the FA Cup on the cards.

Of course, with still a handful of matches remaining, there is plenty of time left for twists and turns in the closing stages of the 2024/25 campaign.

Taking to Instagram [19 March], Ramsey posted images of himself warm-weather training with the Villa squad, alongside the caption: “Time away,” with a battery emoji.

As well as gaining likes from teammates Emi Martinez, Morgan Rogers and Youri Tielemans, Everton‘s Tim Iroegbunam and Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon both liked the post.

Ian Maatsen even replied to the post, writing: “Teckkkyyyy,” while Lamare Bogarde commented: “Bolooo”.

Unai Emery to lead Aston Villa to glory this season

Football Insider verdict

Villa are currently battling for a top-four spot in the Premier League this season, with the club just four points behind fourth-place Chelsea – form which has seen Emery linked with a move to Man United.

However, Man City, Newcastle United, Brighton and Fulham are all sandwiched in between the clubs, with Bournemouth also fighting for European qualification ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Emery’s side will not be taking much from their friendly fixture in the Middle East, other than remaining fit during the arduous two-week break, but it should set them up well for their FA Cup clash.

A quarter-final tie against Championship side Preston North End awaits, and if Villa can make it to the final of the competition, it presents yet another way for the Villans to qualify for Europe.

That is undeniably one of the most important goals this season, but attention will also be focused on reaching as far into the Champions League as possible with an upcoming clash against PSG next.
