Tottenham told to finalise 'superb' Ange Postecoglou upgrade - 'he's the one'

24/04/2025 05:29
Ange Postecoglou is widely expected to lose his job at Tottenham this summer after a dismal 2024-25 campaign.
Football Insider revealed on 14 April that Postecoglou must win the Europa League to have any chance of staying – but could still depart even if he delivers much-needed Champions League qualification.
Spurs chiefs are unhappy with the club sitting 16th in the Premier League table and some 22 points outside of the top five.
Postecoglou is poised to follow the likes of Antonio Conte, Nuno Espirito Santo and Jose Mourinho in being sacked by chairman Daniel Levy.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has suggested Thomas Frank has “done his time” at Brentford and is “perfect” for the Tottenham job.
Frank ‘perfect’ for Tottenham job after Postecoglou exit
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness backed Frank as “the one to make the move” and insisted he could bring Spurs back “pretty quickly”.
Tottenham have lost 18 games in the Premier League alone this season – while Brentford sit 11th in the table and are within touching distance of potential European qualification.
Games | 38 |
Wins | 16 |
Draws | 7 |
Losses | 15 |
Goals (For / Against) | 67 / 60 |
Wyness hailed Frank as doing a “superb job” with the Bees – having got them promoted in 2021 and subsequently consolidated their place in the top flight.
He told Football Insider's Inside Track podcast: "He's the one I would tip to make the move.
"Frank has done a superb job at Brentford and he's well-respected.
"But he's done his time. He can see the chance to move across London now, and I think he'd be perfect for Spurs.
"I think the new CEO coming in makes it the perfect time to make the move, it fits. Frank would be the right move.
"He could bring them back pretty quickly."
Bournemouth move to block Spurs' Iraola approach
Meanwhile, Andoni Iraola has also been linked with the potential vacancy in north London as the summer approaches.
Football Insider revealed on 18 April that Iraola has been offered a new contract as Bournemouth attempt to prevent him joining Tottenham.
Postecoglou is on borrowed time at Spurs despite reaching the Europa League semi-final this season – where they will face Bodo/Glimt across two legs.
