Liverpool face Chelsea on Sunday in what should be the game of the weekend in the Premier League.

The Reds and the Blues have played some incredible games against one another over the years, and Sunday is shaping up to be another classic.

This is a clash between two expansive sides with new managers who are facing their biggest tests so far in their new roles.

Liverpool head into this game with home advantage, but given how good Cole Palmer has been this season, you can never write Chelsea off.

Writing in his column for the BBC, Chris Sutton has had a go at predicting how this game will go.

Chris Sutton predicts Liverpool vs Chelsea

Sutton shared his verdict on how this one will go.

The pundit expressed some concern for Liverpool due to Alisson Becker's injury, but he noted that Caoimhin Kelleher is a good enough deputy.

Ultimately, Sutton tipped Liverpool to win narrowly here, going for a 2-1 home win.

"Everyone is talking now about the tests coming up for Liverpool, who have started the season with what some people are calling gentler fixtures but, after this game, go to Emirates Stadium next weekend,' Sutton wrote.

"This is a tough game for them for starters. There has been a great rivalry between these two clubs in the past couple of decades and I don’t think there will be much love lost when they meet on Sunday, either.

"Can Chelsea go to Anfield and dominate Liverpool? I am not so sure. Alisson’s injury is a blow for the Reds but Caoimhín Kelleher is a very capable back-up in goal.

"At the other end, Arne Slot’s playing style seems to suit Mohamed Salah and I am expecting Liverpool’s attacking options to give them the edge."

When will Alisson return from injury

Sutton highlighted Alisson's injury as a concern for Liverpool heading into this game, so when will the Brazilian be back in action?

Arne Slot sadly believes Alisson could still be out for a few weeks.

"The latest is that we don't know but what we do know is that if a player walks off like he did, that normally means that he is not in the Brazil squad," Slot said after Alisson's injury.

"I don't expect him to be in the team in the first game we play after [the international break].

"We have to wait and see, but it is going to take a few weeks I assume for him to be back. I think it is [his hamstring]."

Luckily, as Sutton says, Kelleher is a great understudy, and this is a great chance for the Irishman to prove his ability after Kelleher recently complained about his lack of minutes.

Kelleher has turned up in big games against Chelsea before, notably in last season's Carabao Cup final, and he'll be hoping to repeat the trick again here.
