Transfer Expert: Tottenham make Richarlison transfer decision after bombshell

Tottenham are willing to entertain offers for Richarlison this month as he is keen to leave the club, according to their former scout.

Mick Brown, who also worked as the chief scout at Man United and Blackburn and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that both parties are open to agreeing a move away from North London before 3 February.

This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed that the Brazil international wants to leave amid interest in a mega-money move to the Saudi Pro League.

It is believed the 27-year-old has grown tired of his bit-part role under Ange Postecoglou and wants to play more regular football elsewhere.

There has been long-standing interest from clubs in the Middle East, while Newcastle United have also considered making a move to bring him to St James’ Park.

Now, Spurs are also thought to be open to his departure as they feel they will be able to use the funds raised to improve the strength in depth in Postecoglou’s side.

Richarlison has made just one start in nine appearances so far this season after struggling for form and fitness, and is no longer a part of the club’s long-term plans.

Tottenham to cash in on Richarlison after exit twist

Since his £60million move from Everton in 2022, Richarlison has made 75 appearances for Spurs, but has missed a total of 47 games through injury.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted the forward’s injury issues and lack of consistency means Tottenham are now open to his exit.

“I’m not surprised he wants to leave,” he told Football Insider.

“But from what I hear, Tottenham want to move him on as well.

“There always seems to be a cloud hanging over him and he’s never quite found that consistency.

“People have said he’s alright when he decides to play, but he doesn’t always look up for it.

“That’s been a problem since he was at Everton, and it hasn’t been resolved at Spurs.

“Top sides can’t afford to carry players like that on big wages, we’ve seen similar with Marcus Rashford, they need players who are going to turn up week in, week out.

“It doesn’t surprise me he wants to go because he’s on the sidelines a bit now, he’s had the injury issues but now he’s back and still can’t really get into the team.

“So can I see him moving on, either through his own desire or because the club don’t want him? Yes.”
