Tyler Morton sends message to Harvey Elliott as Liverpool transfer plan emerges

Harvey Elliott received a two-word message from Liverpool teammate Tyler Morton on social media as questions around the former’s future emerge.
The 21-year-old scored the all-important away goal against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, and even assisted Federico Chiesa‘s consolation goal in the EFL Cup final.
However, with just a combined total of 20 minutes played in those two games, and zero league starts to his name under Arne Slot, supporters have raised doubts over the youngster’s future at Anfield.
Football Insider understands that Liverpool are desperate to keep hold of Elliott this summer, but the player has been left disappointed by his lack of action on the pitch.
Despite this, the Reds plan to rebuff any offers for the attacking midfielder, with his situation attracting plenty of attention from abroad during the winter transfer window.
He has just two more years left on his current deal, but with the Reds topping the Premier League table, he could be given more chances to impress during the end-of-season run-in.
Harvey Elliott all smiles despite questions over Liverpool future
Sharing an image of the two together on Instagram [31 March], Morton captioned the story: “My mate,” to which Elliott responded: “Friend there,” with a thumbs-up emoji.
The 22-year-old has been struggling with injuries this season, not being able to take to the pitch since the 3-2 Europa League defeat to PSV Eindhoven in January.
Anfield faithful left wanting more after Arne Slot’s first season
Football Insider verdict
The Reds have been left wanting more after Slot’s first season at Anfield promised more than what the team have achieved across all competitions.
While beating Arsenal to the Premier League title is enough to please some supporters, the expectations of lifting the Champions League and EFL Cup titles could not be met by the Merseysiders.
Premier League standings | Points |
1. Liverpool | 70 |
2. Arsenal | 58 |
3. Nottingham Forest | 54 |
In addition to dropping out of three competitions, two of them in the space of five days, Trent Alexander-Arnold is now set to leave Liverpool for Real Madrid, and fans are deeply unhappy.
Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah‘s futures are still uncertain, meaning the Reds are heading for quite a difficult summer transfer window, especially with a number of other players linked with exits.
Darwin Nunez, Andy Robertson, Diogo Jota and Ibrahima Konate could all join the trio out of the Anfield exit doors, and with Slot only just getting started on Merseyside, next season might not be so simple for him.
