Newcastle United are no longer slipping under the radar as they amassed their sixth consecutive win in the Premier League by beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 on Saturday.
Newcastle are a point away from Chelsea in fifth place as Eddie Howe is well and truly getting a tune out of them.
Eddie Howe will be hoping that the Magpies finish in the Champions League once again, which is a realistic possibility due to Manchester City and Tottenham’s struggles this season.
Alexander Isak has scored seven successive goals in the Premier League now, equalling Alan Shearer [September-November 1996] and Joe Willock [April-May 2021], who are the only Newcastle players to have done so in the English top-flight.
Alexander Isak scored the winning goal for Newcastle, getting on the end of a dangerous cross from Jacob Murphy that struck Radu Dragusin before he guided the ball into a gaping net.
Ally McCoist was full of praise for the 26-year-old.
Ally McCoist says Alexander Isak is the best striker in the Premier League
The Swedish striker is the type of number nine that is renowned as being a scorer of great goals but his strike against Spurs was uncharacteristically scrappy. Paul Merson claimed Isak is worth £150 million for Arsenal.
However, Isak still delivered for Newcastle against Tottenham, leading Ally McCoist to crown him as the Premier League’s standout striker.
McCoist said on TNT Sports: “I think [Isak] is the best out-and-out forward in the league,” former Scotland striker Ally McCoist said while covering the game for TNT Sports. “He will always give you something.”
“In terms of his all-round game, Isak is unstoppable.”
Gary Neville crowned Isak as the Premier League’s best striker as well.
Eddie Howe hails Alexander Isak and his “really hot streak” after Newcastle beat Tottenham
Eddie Howe praised Isak’s form after Newcastle beat Tottenham during his post-match interview with TNT Sports.
“He’s in the right place at the right time again, it’s an art. Another great cross from Jacob and he’s in the right place at the right time, he’d be probably disappointed with the one he didn’t take, he’s in there again and a great finish.”
“Massive goals for us, he’s on a really hot streak, long may continue.”
Newcastle need Champions League football to keep Isak and the in-form marksman will be hoping that he can lead them to a top-four finish and continue to have yet another brilliant season.
