Van Dijk responds to Ademola Lookman's message after Liverpool transfer report

Virgil van Dijk has congratulated Liverpool-linked Ademola Lookman after he was named the 2024 African Footballer of the Year.
According to Todo Fichajes, Liverpool are willing to battle it out with Arsenal and Newcastle to secure the 27-year-old’s signature in the summer transfer window.
Lookman, who had spells at Leicester, Fulham, and Merseyside rivals Everton has been on fire this season, starting 17 of his 19 games across all competitions, scoring 11 goals, and providing five assists in 1359 minutes of action.
The Nigeria international has been integral to Atalanta’s remarkable start to the season, with the Serie A club sitting at the top of the league with 37 points from 16 games, two above Antonio Conte’s Napoli in second.
Liverpool may be in need of a new forward soon, with Mohamed Salah’s current deal due to expire at the end of the season, alongside Van Dijk, 33, and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

New manager Arne Slot has done a remarkable job in a short period of time, guiding Liverpool to the top of the Premier League table and of the new Champions League league format, conceding just 14 goals in the process.
The big Dutch centre-back is loving life under Slot, starting all 21 of his games across all competitions, popping up with two goals, and one assist in 1890 minutes of action.
Lookman took to Instagram to celebrate winning the most prestigious individual award in African football, to which Van Dijk responded with a clapping hands emoji.
Liverpool take on a managerless Southampton in the League Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday (December 18), kicking off the post-Russell Martin era for the South Coast club.
Attention will then return to the Premier League as Liverpool travel to North London to face Tottenham on Sunday (December 22).
