Virgil van Dijk reacts to a message from Caoimhin Kelleher on social media as uncertainty continues to cloud the Irish goalkeeper’s Liverpool future.

The 26-year-old has featured regularly for the Reds this season, thanks to an injury to first-choice Alisson and Arne Slot preferring him as his shot-stopper for cup competitions.

However, with Giorgi Mamardashvili joining from Valencia in the summer for £29million [BBC Sport], it seems Kelleher’s future lies elsewhere.

Chelsea may try to sign Kelleher, due to their goalkeeping woes this season, whilst Paul Robinson told Football Insider exclusively he would be a “perfect fit at Leeds”.

In spite of the rumours, the goalkeeper has remained focused on his on-pitch performances whilst away on international duty with Ireland.

Virgil van Dijk has interest from Bayern Munich

Ireland’s number one shared three photos on Instagram after his side beat Bulgaria twice in the space of four days.

The post was captioned: “Great camp two big wins”, and was liked by club teammate Van Dijk.

The Dutch defender also has interest in him, as Mick Brown told Football InsiderBayern Munich had been in contact with Van Dijk’s agent, sounding out a potential transfer for the Dutchman.

Despite some suggestions that his performances were beginning to take a nosedive, Alisson proved why he remains one of the world’s best shot-stoppers with his performance against PSG in Paris.

As a consequence, Kelleher will almost certainly be leaving Anfield this summer.

The Irish goalkeeper has featured more regularly for the Reds over the last two seasons, making 44 appearances in all competitions between last year and this.

With Kelleher proving his capabilities, performing well in place of Alisson and with a contract expiring in 2026, Liverpool will look to profit off the Irishman this summer.

Whilst Chelsea are interested, bloated and ever-rotating goalkeeping room would be a daunting unit to join.

Kelleher is good enough to beat out Robert Sanchez for the number one starting spot, but Mike Penders is highly though of and will likely be given the chance to prove himself sooner, rather than later.

Instead, the Liverpool keeper may look to join a side like Bournemouth, or Leeds, where he will receive more guarantees about his playing time.
