West Ham are set to complete the appointment of Kyle Macaulay from Chelsea, talkSPORT understands.

Macaulay is a long-term colleague of Graham Potter, who he first worked with at Swedish side Ostersunds FK as a chief analyst.

He followed Potter to Swansea City, Brighton and then Chelsea in 2022 as head of scouting before becoming a chief analyst once again.

West Ham’s new head coach, who replaced Julen Lopetegui, already has the trusted Bruno and Billy Reid amongst his staff.

Macaulay’s pending arrival at the London Stadium raises doubts over Tim Steidten’s long-term future at the club’s sporting director.

It comes after West Ham spent around £122million on signings in the summer only for them to currently sit 14th in the Premier League.

With the January transfer window still open, the Hammers have the chance to strengthen their squad again for the rest of the season.

talkSPORT understands that the east London side are interested in a move for Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz.

They’ve also had two separate bids for Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran rebuffed by Aston Villa.

Evan Ferguson is Potter’s first choice option to lead the attack, with the duo previously working together at Brighton.

Furthermore, West Ham are interested in signing Angel Gomes from Lille amid his contract expiration in the summer.

Gomes’ teammate Jonathan David is another striker target, with Elye Wahi of Marseille and Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi also eyed.

West Ham are 14th in the Premier League, level on points with Manchester United, but behind them on goal difference.

Potter, who has returned to management after 21 months out, has faced a difficult start to life at the club.

His touchline debut for the Hammers came in their controversial 2-1 FA Cup third round defeat to Aston Villa.

West Ham scored the opening goal on the night but Villa equalised from a corner that shouldn’t have been awarded as per replays.

Potter’s first home outing saw them beat Fulham 3-2 but Crystal Palace won 2-0 on Saturday to make it two defeats from three.
