West Ham ridiculed by 'baffling' behaviour over Jhon Duran transfer from Aston Villa

West Ham have been ridiculed for their “baffling” behaviour over the Jhon Duran transfer pursuit, by a former Aston Villa attacker.
Villans striker Duran was believed to be the subject of a £40million transfer bid, that was rejected, from fellow Premier League club West Ham [talkSPORT], and Gabby Agbonlahor is far from impressed.
However, as Pete O’Rourke exclusively reported to Football Insider, that offer is believed to actually be worth around £50million.
The Colombian striker has made headlines with some of the eye-catching goals he has scored for Villa, but the former Chicago Fire man has not played since being sent off against Newcastle on Boxing Day.
Former Villa striker, Agbonlahor, took to X to voice his displeasure at the offer the Midlands side had received from West Ham, saying: “40 million bid for Duran? What you after hammers half his right foot? Also why would he move backwards?? Baffling.”
Ollie Watkins vs Jhon Duran continues to be a key talking point for Aston Villa
Football Insider Verdict
The decision on whether to start Watkins, or Duran, has been a positive problem for Villa manager Unai Emery.
Whilst some fans would love to see the pair start together, both strikers seem to thrive when playing on their own up top.
Emery has chosen not to play both together, likely due to the the excellent form of attacking players like Morgan Rogers, and with the signing of Donyell Malen, that is likely to continue.
Which then poses the problem for Villa, do they want a striker worth over £50million sat on their bench? Despite their fine season last year, the Villains sit eighth in the table and that money could be used to strengthen the starting line-up as they look to compete on multiple fronts this year.
The potential boost to their transfer budget this January would allow Villa to be able to immediately sign players like target Oscar Mingueza, rather than having to wait until the Summer window.
However, losing Duran would be a major-blow, the Colombian has stepped up for the Midlands side a number of times now when England international Watkins has been misfiring.
In other news, Villa may be about to lose one of their young sensations to Celtic.
