Arsenal and Manchester City drew 2-2 on Sunday, but most of the stories coming out of the game weren't surrounding the football that was played.

Indeed, the referee's performance was the centre of attention around this game, while a season-ending injury to Rodri has also made headlines all week long.

The Spaniard suffered what appears to be an ACL injury against Arsenal, and there has been a lot of chat about this injury after the game.

Speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Kelly Cates has suggested that Arsenal targeted Rodri, but, as you may imagine, Ian Wright wasn't too happy with that suggestion.

Ian Wright unhappy with Rodri suggestion

Wright reacted negatively after Cates suggested Rodri was targeted.

"We haven't spoken about Rodri's injury and Man City fans will feel as if he was targeted by Arsenal?" Cates said.

"What? Targeted? He got an injury running towards the corner," Wright said.

"But before that as well, there was a physical presence around Rodri," Cates replied.

"But we have a physical presence now. You look at the start of the game, Kai Havertz ran towards him saying 'get out of the way.' We didn't kick lumps out of Rodri. He injured himself trying to get the corner," Wright said.

Rodri wasn't targeted by Arsenal

Wright is spot on, Rodri wasn't targeted in this game.

Yes, there was an incident in the first minute with Kai Havertz that set the tone, but, other than that, Rodri wasn't the victim of any unfair roughhousing.

Sadly, Rodri did pick up a serious injury, but, as Wright says, that was an off the ball incident that was very unfortunate.

Arsenal implemented a few underhanded tactics during the game against Manchester City as they wasted time and bought fouls to eat away at the clock, but one thing Arsenal can't be accused of is purposefully trying to harm any of their opponents.
