Tottenham Hotspur certainly chose an excellent time to deliver one of their best performances of the season so far against Manchester United.

Ange Postecoglou's side were dominant at Old Trafford – Tottenham never looked like losing nor did they ever surrender control of the game.

Of course, this performance was even more impressive considering that Spurs were without their captain Son Heung-min for the away trip.

Son was ruled out because of an injury picked up in mid-week, meaning Timo Werner came in to start.

Postecoglou would have probably turned to Wilson Odobert were he fit, but Werner was ultimately given the nod on the left.

Although Tottenham fans won't be focusing on too many negatives after a brilliant win away from home, Werner's finishing was fairly frustrating in Manchester.

As ever, the German did everything right until it came to finishing his chances, missing more than once when one versus one with Andre Onana.

In typical fashion, Werner didn't look confident when it came to the final step, the kind of chance that Dominic Solanke would relish.

That being said, after Werner missed another big opportunity in the second half, the Tottenham fans, who were in good spirits at Old Trafford, actually started singing about Mikey Moore, who was watching from the bench.

Perhaps it was a coincidence, but it didn't seem so.

Heard during Sky Sports‘ coverge of the game, Spurs fans were chanting, "Mikey Moore, he's one of our own" – seemingly pleading with Postecoglou to sub the youngster on for Werner.

Perhaps that's a little harsh on the German, but Moore justified his hype when he came on.

In the 77th minute Tottenham fans did get their wish when Moore came on as one of several changes.

The youngster has a huge reputation in N17 and justified the hype almost immediately against United.

Moore nearly scored the goal of the game in the dying moments, driving a powerful effort just past Onana's left post.

That moment would have been the icing on the cake for Spurs, a cake that was already looking quite full, but there will certainly be a lot more chances for Moore to come.

An excellent trip for Tottenham, even if Werner wasn't able to pile on more misery further for United on this occasion.
