Why Arsenal are wearing all-white kit against Manchester United as Gunners drop traditional colours for good cause
Today at 11:28 AM
Arsenal will be in a very different kit this weekend when they line up against Manchester United in the FA Cup.
The Gunners are at home, but they are set to ditch their traditional colours for an all-white number.
This is something Arsenal have done for a few years now, and it’s all for a very good cause.
Why are Arsenal wearing an all-white kit?
This will be the fourth year that the Gunners have worn an all-white kit on FA Cup third-round weekend.
It is to support the campaign known as No More Red.
This is a club-led scheme that is designed to help keep young people safe from knife crime and youth violence.
The campaign was launched in January 2022 and has progressed well, including opening three pitches so that kids can enjoy playing football in a safe environment.
The white kits won’t be sold commercially and are instead awarded to volunteers who participate in No More Red.
Arsenal’s Women’s team will also don the shirt in their FA Cup fourth-round tie against Bristol City.
Discussing the progress the initiative has made, Freddie Hudson, head of Arsenal in the Community, said: "No More Red provides a unique opportunity to highlight four decades of our local community work that has helped to keep thousands of young people safe.
"Young people face multiple challenges as they grow up in today's world and we don't have all the answers, but we are confident that by acting together and shining a light on the support network available across our community, we can make a significant contribution to the lives of our participants."
This is an important game for Arsenal against Man United after defeat to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup in midweek.
The Gunners were beaten 2-0 at home by the Toon, meaning their chances of winning the first major piece of silverware of the season is slipping away.
Of course, they could turn things around at St James’ Park, but for now, attention must switch to the Red Devils.
Man United are the defending champions after beating Man City in the final at Wembley last season.
Ruben Amorim‘s men have already been to the Emirates this year and were beaten 2-0.
However, they turned in their best display under the Portuguese head coach against Liverpool at Anfield last weekend to secure a 2-2 draw, so you would expect a confident team to arrive in north London.
Plus, they will not want to lose their title at the first hurdle, so it is all set up for an excellent match.
You will be able to catch it all exclusively on talkSPORT.
