Arsenal defender William Saliba took to social media to respond to yet another teammate ruled out for the rest of the season.
Takehiro Tomiyasu, 26, has announced that he will be sidelined until 2025-26 after undergoing surgery on a knee injury that has seen him miss a vast majority of the first half of the campaign.
The Japan international hasn’t made an appearance for Mikel Arteta’s side since their 3-1 Premier League win over Southampton earlier in the season, in which he came on for the last six minutes
Arsenal are currently without five first-team players, including Tomiyasu, for extended periods, with Gabriel Jesus, and Kai Havertz also out for the rest of the season.
Mikel Merino stepped up for Arteta’s side in the 2-0 win over Leicester on Saturday (February 15), filling in as a striker and scoring a late brace to secure all three points.
William Saliba wishes Arsenal teammate a speedy recovery after setback
Saliba, 23, has been a solid performer for Arsenal so far this season, starting 33 of his 34 games across all competitions, popping up with two goals, and failing to provide an assist in his 2985 minutes of action.
The Frenchman took to Instagram to respond to Tomiyasu’s injury announcement, saying: “Next season bro.”
Arsenal travel to Graham Potter’s West Ham side on Saturday (February 22) as they seek to remain within touching distance of league leaders Liverpool.
The North London side will then travel to high-flying Nottingham Forest in what could be a crucial game for their Premier League title ambitions.
