After Tottenham Hotspur lost their 11th game of the ongoing Premier League season against Arsenal, Ange Postecoglou has every reason to be in a sour mood.

Arsenal found it far too easy to shrug off an out-of-sorts Spurs side.

After playing 21 games this season, Tottenham are sitting 13th in the league table, with the North London Derby further emphasising how poor a season they have had.

Tottenham midfielder Dejan Kulusevski praised Arsenal for how well they defended during the game and made it difficult for the visitors to break them down.

However, one could argue that the Lilywhites barely laid a glove on the hosts, registering just two shots on target.

Antonin Kinsky had a game to forget against Arsenal as Ange Postecoglou’s side seemed far from their free-flowing best in one of their biggest games of the season.

Ange Postecoglou comments after Arsenal vs Tottenham worry Alan Shearer

In his post-match press conference, Postecoglou admitted via BeanymanSports that Spurs were “passive” and nowhere near their “levels.”

Considering how aggressive Tottenham were in their approach in their 1-0 win against Liverpool in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, Wednesday’s performance was a huge disappointment for them.

As Tottenham limped towards a defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, Alan Shearer admitted that if he was a Lilywhites supporter, Ange Postecoglou’s comments would concern him.

Shearer said on BBC Sport: “I would without doubt be [concerned] if you are a Tottenham fan, they have to be. I know they have got injuries to centre-backs and the goalkeeper but you cannot go up against your rivals and your manager come out at the end of the game and say we weren't really up for it, nowhere near our levels. That is not acceptable.”

“You can't go into a game of that magnitude and size and not turn up in the first half. They were a little bit better in the second half. They looked a bit of a mess at times. What I would say is that [Archie] Gray and [Lucas] Bergvall, two of the youngest players, were two of their better players and that tells you everything.”

Ange Postecoglou claimed Tottenham should be disappointed, namechecking youngsters like Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray to feel down as well after their latest setback.

On the other hand, Mikel Arteta was proud of Arsenal’s performance and reserved special praise for their incredible atmosphere at home.

Ange Postecoglou told to “get results” after Arsenal vs Tottenham

Micah Richards stated that as much as he admires the former Celtic boss, it is high time that he delivers results for Tottenham after their damaging defeat to Arsenal.

“In terms of Spurs, I would be a little concerned.”

“I am a big fan of Ange, I think he wants to play the right football. But he needs to get results.”

“He can talk about injuries all he wants but he needs to find a way to win with the players he has got right now.”

It is hard to pinpoint why Spurs looked as nervy as they did.

Radu Dragusin’s defending against Arsenal was slated as he was too fixated with Gabriel Magalhaes’ positioning inside the box, which eventually led to Dominic Solanke’s own goal as Postecoglou would have felt let down by his players.

However, as the business end of the season has begun, Tottenham must kick into gear.

Tottenham’s players support Ange Postecoglou but their display certainly did not reflect that.

As Spurs travel to Merseyside to face Everton next, they must up their game.

Otherwise, questions will be asked about whether Ange Postecoglou is the right man to lead them in the right direction.
