On summer transfer deadline day, Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Fábio Silva arrived at UD Las Palmas on a loan deal.
Wolves invested more than €30m to buy the striker from FC Porto in 2020, but he hasn’t been able to deliver at Molineux. This saw him go out on loan to Anderlecht, PSV Eindhoven and Rangers prior to arriving at the La Liga side.
Silva has three goals and an assist from nine games for Las Palmas. Mundo Deportivo say the 22-year-old is the new star of the Spanish club as he’s managed two goals and an assist in his last four matches under Diego Martínez’s orders.
This includes a goal in his side’s 3-2 win over Valencia, assisting Álex Muñoz’s winner against Girona and opening the scoring in Las Palmas’ 3-1 win over Rayo Vallecano last weekend.
Las Palmas have won three league games this season and the Wolves man had a role in all their victories. Both the club and the player have started to do well since Martínez was appointed as Luis Carrión’s successor on October 8th.
Mundo claim the Portuguese attacker has been Las Palmas’ ‘revelation’ in recent games. He’s also ‘demonstrating’ why Wolves invested so much to buy him four years ago.
They end the report by stating: ‘Therefore, after the player’s last appearances, two issues are undeniable: the player has projection, and the change of coach is making him shine.’
Last month, Silva stated he won’t close the door on staying at the Spanish club beyond this season.
