Didier Drogba played against some incredible centre-backs during his illustrious career.
From Rio Ferdinand to Carles Puyol, Drogba played against the best of the best in the Premier League and the Champions League.
Speaking to Goal, Drogba has been asked to name who he believes are the best players ever and the best players in the world in every position.
The pundit picked Franz Beckenbauer as the best defender of all-time, while he gave a shoutout to Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk as the best defender in the world at the moment.
Indeed, Drogba believes Van Dijk is the best in the world at what he does.

Didier Drogba says Virgil van Dijk is the world's best defender
Drogba spoke highly of Van Dijk when naming the best defender in the world.
Van Dijk has received tons of praise for his performances this season, and it's fair to say he's back to his best.
Martin Odegaard recently named Van Dijk as his toughest opponent, and now, Drogba says the Dutchman is the best in the world.
"Who is the best defender in the world right now?"
"Wow, it is difficult for me to say, but I'll go with Van Dijk," Drogba said.

Indeed, Drogba shared his verdict on every position and who the best in the world is.

Drogba did show some Chelsea bias with his goalkeeping picks though as he chose Petr Cech as the best goalkeeper ever, while he named former Chelsea star, Thibaut Courtois as the best goalie in the world right now.
Drogba won all there was to win during his time at Chelsea, and it's fair to say he knows what he's talking about when he's judging players at the elite level.
