Liverpool boss Arne Slot is not too concerned about the knock Andy Robertson picked up against Wolves on Saturday, but was not completely confident it is nothing serious.

The Reds went to the top of the Premier League table thanks to the 2-1 win at Molineux, which came through goals from Ibrahima Konate and Mohamed Salah.

It is five wins from six league games for Slot so far this season in a fabulous start to life in England for the Dutchman.

There was concern for Robertson late on, though, as he had to be replaced by Joe Gomez on 89 minutes, limping after a challenge from Carlos Fobrs.

Slot expects the Scot to be in training as normal on Monday, but could not confirm that after the game.

‘I don’t expect this to be a big problem, although you never know, but I think he just got a knock,’ he said of his left-back.

‘End phase of the game, maybe he was a bit tired as well because the guy who came in – Forbs, I knew him, of course, from the Dutch competition – he made it a real fight for him.

‘He got a bit of a knock but I’m expecting him to be in training on Monday again, but let’s wait [and see].’

The Reds are back in action on Wednesday as they host Bologna in the Champions League before travelling to Crystal Palace in the 12.30pm kick-off on Saturday in the Premier League.

Darwin Nunez missed the win at Wolves due to illness and it is not clear yet whether he will return for the Champions League game.

Harvey Elliott is Slot’s only other fitness concern with the midfielder set to be out until late October after fracturing his foot.

On his team topping the table early in the season, Slot said: ‘It’s almost ideal that we played Wolves today because we are top and they’re last and they absolutely don’t deserve to be last.

‘They had a very difficult fixture list and I’ve seen many games of them and in almost every game they deserve more. You could even argue [that] today because it wasn’t like we were so much better than them. They were in the game [and] doing a lot of good things. If they keep doing this against other teams as well they will never end up No.20 [in the league].

‘We still have to prove that when we come across Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea [and] Aston Villa [to see] if we can then still be up there with Champions League games included as well.’
