Former Turkish international Burak Yılmaz has told the country’s media he doesn't think Abdulkadir Ömür should have signed for Hull City.

Ömür signed for the Championship club during the last winter transfer window and despite a promising start he's struggled to find his best form this season.

Son Dakika have covered comments Yılmaz has made at an event in Trabzonspor when he was asked about the Hull City attacker.

Yılmaz believes Ömür should currently be playing for one of the big European clubs and feels he remained at Trabzonspor too long.

The 39-year-old went on to say Ömür wasn't in a good situation when he joined Hull City and should have considered turning down the transfer.

"When he called me, I told him he definitely had to go. Manchester City, Monaco and Sporting. He received offers from Lisbon. He was supposed to go to one of these teams. I knew that a player from Trabzon could go backwards when he didn’t go. Although he won the championship, he was broken because he was too emotional in the face of criticism. When it breaks, it is in a situation where he shouldn't have gone to Hull City. I don’t see him well right now. I hope he will get a breakthrough again," said the former Turkish international.

Ömür was recently left of the match day squad for Hull City's clash with Leeds United after finding it difficult to find form this season.

There have been wild reports in the Turkish press that the player could consider walking away from football and that Hull City may be thinking about terminating his contract.

The 25-year-old has made 21 appearances for Hull City this season, but has yet to score. He's contracted to the Championship side until June 2027.
