Reports: Manchester City ready to offer a ton of money for Andrea Cambiaso

Here's a January surprise.
So much for a quiet January once Juventus get most of their business done to address their very obvious needs at the back and in attack.
Nope, the rumor mill spin like crazy.
And here's a doozy as we start to think about what's going on this weekend.
According to multiple reports out of Italy, Premier League giants Manchester City are ready to make a massive offer to try and lure Andrea Cambiaso away from the club he's loved since he was a boy. Sky Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio reported tThursday hat City's opening bid for Cambiaso will likely be in the neighborhood of €60-65 million. Depending on who else you read, the information about Juventus' stance on a bid is either they want much, much more than that — most likely at least €80 million — or that he is not on the market this winter and won't even consider a bid no matter how much cash City throw their way.
Manchester City's interest in Cambiaso dates back to the late spring or early summer, according to SportItalia's Alfredo Pedulla, when they were going to make a bid of around €40 million. However, it was at that same time that Cambiaso signed a contract extension with Juventus through 2029, essentially ending any possibility of him leaving over the summer no matter how much money might have been offered.

Well, can't say I had this one on the bingo card for this January. But, as the old saying goes, everybody has a price — and I guess we're going to find out what Juve's price is if they are to seriously consider parting ways with Cambiaso.
Which, honestly, sounds like something that hadn't even crossed my mind.
Before he sprained his ankle in December, Cambiaso had easily been one of Juventus' best players. He was very much coming off a breakout 2023-24 season in which he was one of the few shining lights in a campaign that went very bad very quickly. And he had carried that kind of form into a new era under Thiago Motta, who coached Cambiaso two years ago when he was on loan at Bologna. Cambiaso's versatility was on full display even though he was playing as a natural fullback rather than a wingback in a 3-5-2.
It's that kind of skillset that can clearly translate to a Pep Guardiola-managed setup. He's got the versatility that can see him play so many different positions. He plays the kind of way when it comes to inverting and popping up in so many different areas of the field despite being a fullback that is very much something that City does so well when they're at their best under Guardiola.
So now we get to see where Juve's threshold is to not consider selling Cambiaso, a player many feel like can be a very important piece in a Bianconeri rebuild. City certainly has the money to try and tempt Juventus with a huge offer. Just how big said offer will get remains to be seen.
