Juventus' goal drought in Serie A is officially over, with Saturday night's win over Genoa bringing a second-half performance that saw some nice goals and a much-needed brace for Dusan Vlahovic.

The talk coming into Juventus' trip to Genoa over the weekend was all about how Thiago Motta's side hasn't scored in their last three league games. It was about the lack of chances. being created, the scoreless draws that came about because of it and how Juve could, somehow, try and snap out of it.

On Saturday, they snapped out of it.

For the opening 40 or so minutes against Genoa, it wasn't looking all that promising, though. Thankfully, Motta recognized what his team needed to try and find their first goal in over 350 domestic minutes, made those tactical tweaks, and the proof was in what happened after the halftime break.

Did Genoa not being very good in the second half help? Of course. Same with the fact that Genoa being forced to chase the game a little bit allowed Juventus to find more success than they did in the opening half. But, the ills of chance creation that we had seen in the scoreless draws with Roma, Empoli and Napoli were not present after the break in Genoa.

And for that, for one half, we saw again what things look like when they're going right.

On Episode 251 of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, we discuss:

  • Takeaways from Juventus' win over Genoa ... other than the simple fact that goals were scored once again when facing Italian opposition.
  • Juventus got their first win in four league games after three straight scoreless draws. So what changed against Genoa — especially in the second half?
  • How much did Thiago Motta starting to find a tactical alternative to his original plan help quell a little of any potential concerns about the attack?
  • How much did Dusan Vlahovic need a game like this?
  • By the way, Juventus' defense has been pretty good so far this season.
  • Twitter questions — including what you think made Juventus' second half so good against Genoa, what the preferred backline and midfield right now, and what the best starting lineup for a true Big Match should be.
